Left Tank 5
Next comes time to rivet the fuel tank filler flange to the skin. Install the cap when aligning the flange, as there is no easy way to center it. Pay attention to the curvature of the flange, as it must be aligned to match the skin. I found the rivets called out in the plans to be marginally long enough here. One could easily go the next size if need be.
Prior to riveting the ribs, you need to ensure to close the tooling hole in the outboard rib. A -6 rivet would be the easiest, but I had to make a doubler plate w/ two rivets to cover.
Next comes time to rivet the ribs. The directions were a little confusing, but we basically worked inside out. A helper is almost essential here, and we found it easier to lay the tank down on the side. A royal mess is made during this process, but it all wipes right off with MEK when you are done.
When doing the end ribs I really loaded up with the proseal. After the end ribs were in place, I riveted the reinforcement plates and attach bracket. The reinforcement plates would not lay perfectly flat on the rib, so I had to use slightly longer rivets in some places.
