Aileron 1

First step on the ailerons is the stiffeners.  I had flashbacks to wing rib prep, as there are a lot of stiffeners that need to be done (not fun).  Once done and primed, you simply back-rivet them to the skin (just like the elevator).

Next comes time to make the reinforcement plates.  These are already pre-cut, so you don't have to cut them out of raw stock.  Simply line them up under the spar and use the spar holes as a drill guide.

Priming party comes next...I went ahead and primed the galvanized pipe.  I also poured some primer in the center of the pipe, taped both ends, and rolled it around.  This doesn't take much to do...the primer ended up leaking out the taped end.

Next step is rive the skeleton and the skins together.

You then go to drill the counterbalance pipe to the skins.  You have to be careful to keep the drill perpendicular, as it is easy to get these enlarged.  The pipe fits nicely, and you don't have to change its length at all.

You also have to drill one hole on each side on the nose rib tabs.  The plans tell you to use a 1/8" bit to do this.  I don't know why they don't specify #30, as that works just fine.
